The 1dok meta data model is the result of thinking about seamless exchange of digital documents and their unhindered reading in into and processing in case file control or document management systems. It offers the chance to standardize semantically structured contents and to structure them in such a way that for each conceivable communication situation the most suitable vocabulary can be chosen. By means of a special protocol (called 1dok protocol in the following), an Office programme could exchange documents over a corresponding service.
